Diglipur, 26 Oct: On one hand the nightmare of Andaman Trunk Road journey due to bad roads is continuing and on the other hand the Administration is sleeping tight and there is no visible effort from the side of Administration to pressurize the NHIDCL to repair Andaman Trunk Road.
Just before the departure of the former Lt. Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, a namesake review meeting for road repair was conducted after several protests of public but the deadline given during the meeting remained as a deadline even today.
The Condition of Andaman Trunk Road is becoming worst every day but the Administration is showing now visible interest in pressurizing or even taking up the matter with NHIDCL.
Meanwhile, every other day passenger buses and other vehicles are suffering continuous breakdown on Andaman Trunk Road. Perhaps the Administration will get up from deep slumber only after a major accident and death of few innocent passengers.
Today SS Transport ATR bus to Diglipur which left for Diglipur from Port Blair at 12.15 PM suffered breakdown at Jirkatang. The 18 passengers of SS Transport were then shifted to the Geetanjali ATR bus of same convoy.
Sadly the Geetanjali Bus also suffered brakedown at Kadamtala at 06:30 pm today with bus full of passengers. The Spring Leafs fo the bus reportedly suffered heavy damage. As per last report poured in, the bus might now reach Diglipur after midnight only.
The passengers, especially ladies and children are the worst suffers.
Since last two weeks more than 12 such breakdowns of Passenger buses have been reported on ATR. It is only a matter of time when a report of major Bus accident might hit us if no concrete steps are taken by the Administration now.
The million dollar question here is if tomorrow there is a deadly bus accident at ATR, who will take responsibility of that accident, inactive NHIDCL, silent Administration, the new Lt. Governor, the CS, almost dead opposition parties or our Member of Parliament who was over enthusiastic over handing over of ATR to NHIDCL but now is completely silent.
