Port Blair, Oct 26: Mr. Indra Pal Singh, Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council alongwith Mr. Vishal Jolly, Member, HMAC, Mr. S.N.N. Gregory, Councillor (Ward No:12) and other officials of the Council visited Christian Graveyard situated at Aberdeen Bazaar opposite to Netaji Stadium.
During the inspection, the team noticed various amenities to be provided in the Graveyard to facilitate the public who visits the Graveyard to pay last rites to their loved ones. The Civic chief issued necessary direction to the officials to take immediate steps to construct toilet blocks for gents and ladies separately. The Chairperson further issued necessary direction the Executive Engineer (Water) to provide drinking water facility in the Graveyard.
Apart from the above, the Chairperson also directed the EE (Works) to carry out maintenance of the shed situated near the Graveyard immediately. The Civic chief appreciated the SO and concerned sanitary employees for the upto date cleanliness of the surrounding area of the Graveyard. Mr. S.N.N.Gregory, Councillor present there requested the Chairperson to ask the Sanitary Officer to give more attention towards cutting of jungles and other cleanliness keeping in view of “ALL SOUL’S DAY” which commemorates All Soul’s, the Holy Souls observing Christians typically remembers the deceased relative on this particular day which falls on 2nd November,2017.
