Port Blair, Oct 20: In a major development Mr. Karan Baath, a dive instructor, and his team today saved four students from drowning.
According to reports nearly 30 students from a reputed institute today had gone for picnic at Chota Balu beach, Chidiyatapu and when they were taking bath nearly four youths, were trapped in troubled waters and were unable to come back. While they shouted for help no one else in that group was trained enough to take risk and dive in water.
Finally one of the teachers, of the team, rushed to nearby hotel, Wild Grass and contacted the owner Commander (Retd.) Baath, for help.
Commander (Retd.) Baath immediately sent his son Mr. Karan Baath and few others for help with a long rope. Finally Mr. Karan Baath jumped into the water and saved all four of them with the help of others.
As per reports, one out of the four saved, was not breathing due to swallowing of excess water. Mr. Karan Baath reportedly administered CPR on the spot and saved he boy once again. The boy was later admitted in hospital for medical care.
Mr. Karan’s father is Commander (Retd.) Baath, well known for his survival story, in which he took his French guests alongwith his crew of four, on a diving trip off Sir Hugh Rose Island, 20 nautical miles from Port Blair, and this adventure turned into a story of ordeal, grit and survival.
