Port Blair, Oct 09: The new rule to sale liquor only to a debit or credit card holders has brought fortune for many it is learnt. As per sources now some youths have made it as their prime business to stand in queue and buy liquor bottle with different ATM cards, which are later sold with a margin of Rs. 200. This simple trick is helping many to earn Rs. 800 to 1000 daily. The easily earned money is later used for other addictions like Ganja by these youths.
This is good that Administration has imposed some restrictions on liquor but till now all efforts appear half hearted. Present restriction has only help flourishing of country liquor business in Andaman and also increased demand for Ganja, which is cheaper now.
Similarly in Bars also there are people who are ready to swipe cards for anyone in return of Rs. 100 per swipe.
Meanwhile often it is seen that tourists are standing in long liquor queue for a bottle, which somewhere is spreading bad name for Andaman Tourism.
The Administration must show courage and ban liquor totally in Andaman or else such restrictions should be implemented in a well planned manner so that minimum inconvenience is caused to public.
Recent claim of 26 percent drop in legal liquor sale is welcome but Administration must work hard to check sale of country liquor and Ganja too.
