Diglipur, Oct 06: The Union Home Minister of India, Mr. Raj Nath Singh today targeted Pakistan for involving in terrorist activities and said that even though name of the country is Pakistan, but the country is continuously involved in all Na-Pak activities.
Addressing a huge gathering at Diglipur Island of North Andaman after laying the foundation stone for the ‘Rehabilitation and Up-gradation of NH 4 to 2 lane from Austin creek to Kalara (242 km to 298 km) the Home Minister said that Pakistan is involved in all kind of Na-Pak activities like sending terrorists to India and break this country.
“But today from this Diglipur Island I would like to congratulate all Jawans of India from Military, Para-Military, Security and Police Forces for gunning down these terrorists one by one,” the Home Minister said.
He said that India wants peace with our neighbor but if they fail to maintain peace India will response suitably.
Stating that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the true mini India, where people of diverse culture and language of the country live in perfect peace and harmony, the Union Home Minister said that if anyone wants to know about India’s unity in diversity, he or she must visit the Islands.
These Islands have their significance role in the Indian freedom struggle, where the brave sons of India, who fought for our freedom were repatriated and face intolerable torture, he said.
Turning to a series of developmental activities that are taking place in the Islands, The Minister said that the Central Government, under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi has taken initiatives for the overall development of these Islands. Many projects are coming up in the Islands, some of which have already started while the stones are being laid for others and many more are to be started soon.
The Prime Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh said, desires that all states and UTs need to be connected with railways, air, shipping and many other connectivity to strengthen the process of overall development and make India a developed country. These Islands have been selected for various infrastructure development, of which declared National Highways are being taken up, he said.
The Central Government had taken initiative for the development of these Islands and will continue to do so. Development of infrastructure facilities will boost tourism in the Islands and tourism will generate employment for the unemployed youth, the Minister said and adding that the contribution of the people is equally important for the overall development of the Islands.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Mr. Nitin Gadkari informed that various projects are coming up in the Islands.
The Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi plans to invest 15,000 crore for various projects in the UT of A & N Islands, of which projects for 10,000 crore have commence.
This stretch of ATR, from Kalara to Austin creek is estimated to cost about 4 crore while many other projects have already been sanctioned and started, he said referring to the two bridges over the ATR.
Four shipping projects have also been started the foundation stone for which were laid by the Union Home Minister yesterday, he said. There is also proposal to establish ship repairing and ship building dockyard and the ships plying in the Islands will get repair in the Islands itself, he said.
