Port Blair, August 29: The Humphrygunj Police Unit has seized around 195 kgs of Venison from Line Dera area of Guptapara on Sunday morning from the possession of accused Litai Mondol, which is a record of seizure for such high quantity of Venison.
As per reports, the team of Humphrygunj Police Unit kept a strict vigil to seize the Venison since past three days under the leadership of Inspector K Binoj and under the overall supervision of SDPO Bambooflat MA Nausad.
It is learnt that the accused was caught in the Dinghy with 195 kgs of Venison. Sources said that accused used to kill the Deer from the Hiren Tikrey Island and other nearby islands.
The accused has been sent to the Judicial Custody for 10 days and the seized Venison has been handed over to the Forest Department. Further, details is awaited.
