Port Blair, August 16: The ‘Sasta Bazaar’ on 15th August, 2017 might be of great interest to many but for many others the ‘Sasta Bazaar’ (makeshift market on Independence Day) has brought only misery.
The Independence Day celebration is over now and presently one can see the said makeshift Bazaar has left behind heaps of garbage around Junglighat Ground area and inside Junglighat School, making it even difficult for the residents to walk around the area.
As per reports, thousands of people reached the ‘Sasta Bazaar’ at Junglighat School Ground on 15th August to buy various items but till the evening the area was found, full of Garbage all around.
To the utter dismay, even in the Morning no one from PBMC reached the spot to clear the Garbage following which the residents of the area came out to protest against it.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, residents of the area said that close to the Junglighat Ground there is a Hospital and also a School. “How the Administration is planning to provide a safe environment to Children and Patients under the present situation?” questioned a resident.
Because of the garbage mosquitoes and flies are adding to the woes of residents.
Even after repeated complaints none from the side of Port Blair Municipal Council have come to visit the area.
Meanwhile the Principal of the Junglighat School today complained that Hawkers illegally entered inside school premises on 15 August and while leaving the area they left behind stinking garbage. “Even the mid day meal area inside school, where food for children is cooked is full of garbage. Who will come and clean this garbage?” the Principal questioned.
