Diglipur, July 06: A man namely Sanathan Bepari a resident of Diglipur has lost Rs 50,000 in an online fraud two days ago.
As per reports, Sanathan Bepari received a call from number 07091212074 and the caller pretended himself as a staff of a Bank and said to Sanathan Bepari that his ATM has been blocked and to activate the same he has to tell him the password following which, Sanathan Bepari told the password to the caller.
After getting the password the caller then told him to tell the 6 digit OTP that he will receive immediately through SMS which was again revealed by the online fraud victim without even thinking anything suspicious.
As per sources, the online fraud victim said him the OTP thrice which was sent by the caller and in the 1st and 2nd time Rs 20000 was withdrawn and the 3rd time Rs 10,000 was withdrawn.
Sources said that after the debit of such a huge amount the online fraud victim was unaware that he has become the victim of Online Fraud. It is learnt that when the online fraud victim narrated the story to one of his friend working in BSNL he took him to the SBI Bank where the victim came to know about the fraud.
However, to report the same when the victim reached the Diglipur PS two days ago, no case till date has been registered in this regard and the victim is made to run from pillar to post.
Sources said that one of the officers, told the victim that Rs 20000 will not be recovered as it is used for shopping but the remaining amount will come directly in his account without even registering a case.
Even after repeated publicity and awareness campaign some of the people are still becoming fools through unknown calls. However, Andaman Sheekha appeals the General Public again to not reveal anything about the bank account details to an unknown caller and if found anything suspicious may register a complaint in the nearby Police Station.
