Port Blair, July 02: Bhathubasthi Junction which is well known for traffic chaos and unorganised parking, now wears a much organised look, thanks to dozens of Trainee Police Jawans, who have been deployed in the area by the Andaman & Nicobar Traffic Police Unit.
For smooth traffic movement in the Bhathubasthi Junction, which remains full with pedestrians and heavy traffic during rush hours, now looks more organised on Saturday and Sunday, when these trainee Jawans are deployed in the area. During such deployment the Trainee Police Jawans are also getting trained by the deputed Traffic Police Sub-Inspector or Inspector.
This Sunday all the Trainee Jawans were thoroughly briefed by the Traffic Police Sub-Inspector Debnath following which each and every Constables were deputed in the area with the task.
The effort by the Trainee Police Jawans under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Debnath made the entire Bhathubasthi stretch free from Traffic Jam as all vehicles are allowed to park only at one side of the road.
People who usually come for shopping at the Junction every Saturday and Sunday appreciated the effort of the Andaman & Nicobar Traffic Police and were very happy to walk in the Junction without any trouble. “The same should be arrangement of the Traffic Police Unit every day,” said a man who came at the Junction for shopping.
The One Side Parking system at the Bhathubasthi Junction which was initiated by the DySP Traffic after the direction of the SP Traffic is also yielding fruitful results.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Umar said that the Traffic Police Unit is trying its level best to control the traffic all around the city. He said the traffic Police Jawans, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors are very motivated and always doing their best to manage the traffic.
“The Traffic Police Unit appeals the General Public to obey the traffic rules and co-operate with the Traffic Police Unit so that the People remain safe on roads,” DySP Traffic said.
