Port Blair, June 23:A meeting of the Assistant Electoral Registration Officers was held in the conference hall of District Office South Andaman here today, regarding special drive for enrollment of left out electors of A & N Islands, with special focus on the first time electors (young Indian citizen of the age group 18 to 21 years) to be enrolled in the Electoral Roll. The Dy. The Dy. Chief Electoral Officer (Dy.CEO), A & N Islands, Ms. MitaliGoel presided over the meeting.
The Dy. CEO briefed about the significance of the special drive and said that the enrollment of new and left out electors will have to be completed by the end of July, actual works of which will start from the 1st of the month itself. Deletion/inclusion/correction of names if any, be made during the period, the forms for which have already been distributed to the AEROs, she said. While the special camps will be organized on July 8 and 22, 2017, comprehensive publicity shall be made to motivate the left out eligible young electors to come forward and get their names enrolled, through all possible means during the month of July, she said.
The Dy.CEO urged the AEROs to ensure that all political parties appoint BLAs (Booth Level Agents) at all polling stations so as to muster full cooperation with BLOs (Booth Level Officers) during their door to door visit to include the names of the new electors.
