Port Blair, Jun 13: A Career Guidance workshop for adolescents was organized by BUTTERFLIES an NGO on 11.06.17 at Namunaghar Panchayat Hall. Mr. Venketesh took an introductory session with children regarding ITI & its various courses. The criteria for admission, the significance of learning vocational skills irrespective of higher educational background etc. The children shared their doubts on ITI courses, & how ITI could have played a significant role in their prospective careers. Mr. Venketesh advised the children not to be misguided by others who see ITI just as an instant key to secure a govt. job irrespective of the courses they pursue & become discouraging of ITI when they fail to secure a job. He urged to children that they should strategically plan which course to pursue in ITI which could lead them to accelerate in their career paths. He also requested Butterflies to organize an exposure visit of children to ITI later so that they can see for themselves the courses & facilities ITI is equipped with which could inspire them further.
The workshop was part of Butterflies’ annual vacation camp, DOSTI camp 2017, facilitated by Butterflies’ Field Coordinator of South Andaman’s Ms. Latika Singh.
