Port Blair, June 07: The members of Andaman Nicobar Rowing Team that left for National Championship to Kolkata was not even provided with any kit and uniform, alleged the parents of the sportsmen.
As per reports, this Monday all of a sudden the sportsmen were informed in the morning at around 08:00am that they have to leave for Kolkata the same day at 02:00 pm. The Sportsmen were left in such a situation that they anyhow managed to pack their bags and left for Kolkata.
“Due to the sudden information our children left many things at home, the Sports Authority of India has also not provided them any kit or uniform yet and the trials are on. How will they perform without proper and basic kits like shoes,” Parents said.
When Andaman Sheekha asked the Director In-Charge, Sports Authority of India, Mr AK Trivedi he said that he has no knowledge about it.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha one of the parents said that already the trials have started today and there is no hope that the SAI will be sending kits or uniforms.
If this remains the situation of the higher officers of sports than one can imagine that what will be the future of sports in Andaman Nicobar.
