Port Blair, May 23:Butterflies recently organized a workshop on street theatre on 18th – 19th May at Prerna Deep, Port Blair. Around 24 children from South, North and Little Andaman participated and benefited of training. Entire workshop was based on participatory methods and activity based, the workshop enabled the children to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform street plays. The workshop ended with the street play on SWATCH BHARATH at Delanipur junction and Marina Park, Port Blair, performed by the child participants.
Ms. Rita Panicker, Executive Director – Butterflies, Jayraj and Mr. Yogesh, Coordinator-theatre programmes from Delhi were handled the sessions. The major topics handled were: basics of street theatre, script writing, make ups, importance of street theatre etc. These sessions enabled children to bring out with issue based script and street plays. At the beginning of workshop Mr. Sino P Kurian, Programme Manager extended warm welcome to everyone and also shared the objectives of the workshop.
