Port Blair, May 12:To commemorate the birth anniversary of the Florence Nightingale’s, an event has been organized at AYUSH hospital ,with the theme “Nurses: A Voice to Lead, Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” to pay tributes “The Lady with the Lamp”.
At the outset, Mrs. LellaSikdar,Senior Nursing Officer, AYUSH Hospital welcomed the gathering and stated the significance of the day in brief. The Dr. M.A Jawed, PO (AYUSH) i/c said nursing is the largest health care profession in the world and so nurses are the key to achieving health related targets of the SDG’s. They are well trained and educated for maintaining the health and wellness of patient in all aspects. In achieving the sustainable Development Goals Nurses play lead roles as care-givers, skilled clinician, innovators, patient advocate, support persons, managers, financial advisor, policymaker and much more. Dr. Rekha stress on the role of nurses & their duties and asked to increase public awareness about nurses and their contribution towards health care. And Dr. Hemawathi, M.O (Homoeo) talked about the contribution of the nurses in the public health with gentle care and service with smile.
A theme based song sung by Dr. Nandini, BNYS (volunteer), AYUSH Hospital. And also, the Nightingale Pledge and Nurses Anthem was the highlight of the event added by all the nurses of AYUSH Hospital. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Jency George, Nursing Officer, AYUSH Hospital.
