Port Blair, Apr 17: The Our Rights Organization, A&N Islands have requested Ministry of Civil Aviation for launching of virgin routes connecting Port Blair and Madurai.
In a letter addressed to Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati, the Chairman, ORO Mr. C. Sarvanan had requested for an air link connecting Madurai and Port Blair. He also informed that Madurai is a a temple city in Tamil Nadu and is very popular having historical importance, Madurai Meenakshi Amman Kovil , Thirumai Naicker Kovil, are very famous of its construction.
Further informing he said, many of the businessmen from the Islands have connections in terms
of their business as well as their home-town. Many of the students from the islands are pursuing education in various universities in Madurai and nearby cities. Setting up an air link between Port Blair to Madurai would definitely help the islanders for covering long distances in shorter period.
