Port Blair, Apr 13: Under guidance of Director General of Police, A & N Islands, Shri Rajesh Malik , the Forensic Science Laboratory, Port Blair has prepared a working manual for Crime Scene Management to identify, collect and preserve the crime evidence at any crime scene.
The Crime Scene manual contains the necessary information to manage the crime scene to protect the crime scene, to record the crime scene, to prepare the sketch of crime scene, to identify the evidences, to collect and preserve the crime evidences from the scene of crime. It contains information related to preparing the questionnaire for sending the crime exhibits to Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. It also contains the format and precautions required for sending the crime exhibits for examination. Some differences in homicidal and suicidal crimes are also included in this manual.
This is the first edition of Crime Scene Manual to strengthen the investigation mainly for the far-flung area of the Islands where the Forensic Team could not reach to visit the crime scene.
Simultaneously, the Police department is planning to establish the forensic team in N & M Andaman District and also in Nicobar District.
The manual is released on 13.04.2017 at Conference Hall, PHQ, Port Blair by the worthy Director General of Police, Shri Rajesh Malik, IPS in the presence of Inspector General of Police Shri N.-S. Bundela, IPS, SP (FSL) Smti Geeta Rani Verma, IPS and other Superintendent of Police, A & N Islands.
The In-charge Forensic Science Laboratory, Shri Yogesh Kumar with the help of Forensic team has prepared this manual to enhance the quality of evidence collection to help in investigation and prosecution.
