Port Blair, March 26: Socio Cultural Organisation ‘LEHREIN’ celebrated ‘Adeebon Ki Shaam’ a literary get together this evening at 06:30pm at Noor Mahal, Aberdeen Village, Round Basthi, Port Blair.
Mr B Eshwar Rao, Chairperson, PBMC was the Chief Guest and Mrs Rashmi Singh, Secretary, Social Welfare was the Guest of Honour during the occasion.
Two special invitees and international fame Mr Chander Bhan Khayal, Convenor, Urdu Advisory Board, Sahitya Academy, New Delhi and Mr FS Ejaz, Editor, Mahnama Insha, Kolkata also graced the occasion.
The program started after an introductory speech by Mr Sheikh Farooq Alam who in his address gave brief history about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
He said that because of the sacrifices of the freedom fighters the people of the country are born in Independent India which the people and the coming generations have to continue. Further Mr Alam also said that many intellectuals of India doesn’t even know that Andaman is a part of the country which is a matter of great concern and thus it is very necessary that the people must know that India is not from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari but Kashmir to Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Addressing the gathering the Guest of Honour, Mrs Rashmi Singh said that the day is not very far when people all over the world will start saying that India is from Kashmir to Andaman & Nicobar Islands. She also expressed her views about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for Independent India and also told the gathering about her grandfather who himself was a freedom fighter. However she concluded saying that it is more important that youths are motivated to participate in social activities for a better society.
Later addressing the gathering, the special invitee on the occasion Mr FS Ejaz said that the country must learn from the people of Andaman & Nicobar islands how to be united in nationalism and Secularism. The people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands are a role model for rest of the country. Further Mr FS Ejaz also said that there is a need of infrastructure development in the Island.
During the program the special invitee Mr Chander Bhan Khayal said that the people of the islands are very loving, helpful. The people of the islands are the motivation of the country. He also said that if the government starts giving proper attention to the islands than the islands are very rich in tourism, culture to move ahead.
A book by Mr M Ahmed Mujtaba about the Andaman & Nicobar Islands was also released during the occasion. The book received a lot of appreciation from the guests and special invitees.
A memento was also given to Ms Pushpanjali Raju, W/o Late Raj Andamani and Ms Ume Salma, Retd Principal. The program concluded by the vote of thanks preceded by Sheikh Maqsood Alam.
