Port Blair, March 26: Social Activist of these Islands, Mrs Sampa Banerjee has requested the Director of Transport to allot different Color for the uniform and Auto Rickshaw, driven by women.
In the said letter addressed to the Director of Transport, Mrs Sampa Banerjee stated that there are many ladies who are intending to have self employment by driving Auto Rickshaw and some are already working but due to lack of identification they are deprived in many ways.
Mrs Sampa stated that if ladies of such ability are provided with certain facilities such as having different uniform having a different color Auto Rickshaw they will be easily identified and will also be approached by ladies who work till late night hours.
She further added that apart from this, children who are availing tuition and coaching will also feel themselves safe by availing the Auto Richshaws driven by ladies.
As an example, Mrs Sampa Banerjee stated that in Mumbai, Female Auto Rickshaw drivers have a different color Auto Rickshaw and a different Color Uniform.
