Port Blair, Mar 07: The National Medical Library, Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI, New Delhi has now approved Electronic Resources of Medicine (ERMED-India) consortium membership of the Andaman & Nicobar Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS).
As per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India, New Delhi, the Central Library (ANIIMS) requires 20 new print medical journals (14 Indian & 6 Foreign) every year upto 100 medical journals. The current collection of the print medical journals is 60 (42 Indian & 18 Foreign) and renewal of existing print journals, as per the MCI guidelines, is being done every year by the Central Library (ANIIMS). With the addition of 243 eJournals, the total journals in the library is 303. The greater accessibility to these journals will encourage research amongst faculty and students of the Medical College. The phenomenal progress of the Central Library achieved so far has become possible by the persistent efforts of Dr. Archana H. Deshpande, HOD Central Library (ANIIMS).
