Port Blair, Feb 09: The Andaman Chamber of Commerce is going to organize the Andaman Marathon 2017 on 12.02.2017. The Marathon has been divided in two categories i.e. Half Marathon and 10 K. The Half Marathon will start at 0515 hrs. and 10 K run will start at 0520 hrs from the National Memorial, Port Blair. The route of the races will be as under:
Half Marathon: Cellular Jail – Khan Jn.-Water Sports Complex–Dharsmsala-Girls School-Corbyn’s Cove Beach-Corbyn’s Chowk–Austinabad-Phattergudda Jn.-Prpthrapur Jn.–Bhatubasti–Dollygunj-School Line-Dairy Farm–Junglighat-Goalghar-Prem Nagar–Delanipur-Phoenix Bay-Light House- Syndicate Bank-Power House- DSS Gate-Marine Hall–Mohanpura-Gandhi Statue-Ratnam Market-Clock Tower-Narayan Chowk–Dharamsala-Marina Park-Netaji Stadium 2nd Gate.
10 K: Cellular Jail-Khan Jn.-Water Sports Complex–Dharamsala- Narayan Chowk-Clock Tower-Model School-Post Office-Bengali Club-Middle Point-Goal Ghar-Prem Nagar–Delanipur-Teal House-Van Sadan-Van Vikas- Chatham PS Jn.-Foreshore Road-Phoenix Bay Power House-Marine Hall– Mohanpura-Gandhi Statue-Ratham Market Clock–Tower-Narayan Chowk–Dharamsala-Marina Park-Netaji Stadium 2nd Gate.
Apart from above a Run for Fun will also be flagged off at 0525 hrs. from the same venue which will be concluded at Netaji Stadium. The routes will be Khan Jn. -Water Sports Complex – Dharamsala Jn. – Girls School Crossing – Scout Hut Jn. and Main entrance gate of Netaji Stadium.
Both races (Half Marathon and 10 k) will also be concluded at Netaji Stadium. The flag off and prize distribution will be done by Hon’ble Lt. Governor A&N Islands. Large numbers of runners in both races are going to participate as well large numbers of crowds are also expected to come out to witness and enjoy the race.
Therefore, all the members of the public and vehicle drivers/owners are requested to extend their co-operation by not parking their vehicles on road sides in the routes of the race and take care to keep the road free for smooth conduct of the races.
