Port Blair, Dec 22: The National Cooperative Union of India, Cooperative Education Field Project (Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Cooperation) A & N Island Unit continuing its efforts in the field of spreading cooperative education as well as organizing various skill development programme for the welfare of unemployed youths and women’s member of self help group in the rural area. In this series a inaugural programme for seven (7) days long duration training on Bakery Item was organized at Conference Hall, A & N State Cooperative Union, Teylorabad today (22.12.2016), Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chairman, A & N State Cooperative Union was the chief guest on the occasion. The chief guest lauded the efforts of the National Cooperative Union of India, Cooperative Education Field Project, A & N Island Unit for organizing such meaning training for the ultimate benefit of women folk/members of self help group living at grass root level of the society. Addressing the gathering Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma said that self help group is the best means of economic and social reform.
He said though various skill development training programme a large number of house wives living in adjacent areas will get benefitted with the skill they will be able to earn some money for their respective families as the leisure time by obtaining bank loan through respective self help group. Earlier Shri Surendra Nath Singh, Project Officer, National Cooperative Union of India, Coop. Education Field Project, A & N Island Unit welcomed the gathering and briefed about the importance of training course. He said that Self Help Group can play a vital role for the upliftment of women and weaker section.
He emphasized the needs of member’s active participation in promotion of income generating activities. Shri Ravinder Rao, Managing Director, A & N State Cooperative Bank in his address said that women are now trying to become self reliant for which Self Help Group is the best weapon to them. Dr. N. C. Choudhury, Chief Technical Officer, KVK in his address highlighted on the programme available under KVK. 35 women members of self help group are participating in this programme.
