Car Nicobar, Dec 20: Nicobar District Police in association with bank officials of A & N State Co-operative Bank and SBI, Car Nicobar conducted awareness programs on demonetization and promotion of cashless society at Car Nicobar. Insp. Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Car Nicobar alongwith staff of PS Car Nicobar and Bank officials of SBI/Co-operative Bank, Car Nicobar conducted a number of awareness programs for the general public & shopkeepers at Police Station, market area, in front of SBI ATM and at the petrol pump.
Merchants and public of the headquarter area were taught about the advantage of e-transactions. They were told as to how use of cashless transactions will not only curb corruption but will also keep their hard earned money safe.
During the awareness programs, various available modes of cashless transactions such as POS machines, e-wallet, mobile banking/online banking using apps such as SBI buddy, SBI freedom etc.were explained in detail.
A number of shop keepers, who were present in this program, assured that they’d make efforts to install POS machines in their shops at the earliest. Police also emphasized upon the security aspect of digital payments and informed people of all the precautions needed to be taken to prevent any fraud.
