Port Blair, Dec 16: All India Radio’s Programme Wing has rebutted the news stating that the news wing was giving out half hourly update on Cyclone VARDAH.
It was categorically stated that Regional News Unit have no power to extent transmission or broadcast half hourly update in between programmes.
Instead this power is vested with Programme Head. As such Programme Head had done her duty by continuing with transmission for 24 hours and updating the local people on regular basis about the movement of cyclone.
On the other hand News Unit had also carried the news twice a day in its morning bulletin at 0705hrs and in the evening at 1850hrs.
