Port Blair, Dec 07: The District Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr Udit Prakash Rai has requested the stranded tourist at Havelock and Neil Islands not to panic as the District Administration, already had a talk with the private airlines that tourists, whoever have to cancel tickets due to the delay because of depression, will be shifted to an another flight, without any extra payment.
The DC said that the District Administration is completely prepared to tackle any situation and the Hoteliers at Havelock also have a food stock of 4-5 days for tourists. “All the Revenue Staffs, Doctors has already been instructed to take due care of the stranded tourists,” Mr. Udit Prakash said.
The DC further said that the District Administration had tried to evacuate the passengers from Havelock today with the help of ANC but due to the bad weather the ships couldn’t berth at Havelock.
However the DC said that there is no danger in these islands as the weathermen from IMD who attended the meeting at the Disaster Management Board said that the Low intensity Depression is moving towards North West Direction i.e towards Vizag.
The DC also said that there are many reports of property damage from various parts of the city for which the reports are already being prepared to release compensation from the NDRF funds.
