Port Blair, Nov 29: The staff and officers of Directorate of Tribal Welfare, A&N Administration have been sensitized on disaster management in the awareness-cum-sensitization programme conducted at ANTRI Bhawan, Haddo on 29.11.2016. In his welcome address the Director (I/c) (Disaster Management) Shri Gurkripal Singh stressed that each individual of these Islands would be aware towards disasters, due to disaster vulnerability of this UT which may able to respond any threatening disaster.
Shri Gyan Singh, Assistant Director (Log.), DM presented the overall vulnerability profile of A&N Islands and its preparedness towards disasters. He further emphasized on emergency communication system presently working in this UT, Incident Response System, Community Based Disaster Risk Management, National School Safety Programme etc.
Shri Deen Mohammed, Safety Officer has highlighted the disaster warning system, do’s and don’ts of various disasters, preparation of disaster survival kit in home, understanding of short emergency messages passed by State Control Room during crisis period etc. The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by the Director (Tribal Welfare), A&N Administration and also urged to conduct similar programme on regular intervals in all levels.
