Port Blair, Nov 29: An Ex-Servicemen Mela was organised at Andaman &Nicobar Command by the Naval Component on 26 Nov 16, as part of Navy Week celebrations. The event was aimed at addressing the grievancesof Armed Forces veterans living in the Islands. A large number of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) belonging to the Army, Navy and Air Force, their families and Widows attended the event.Maj Gen PS Sai, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Andaman & Nicobar Command was the Chief Guest for the event.
During this event, presentations were made by the three Services, bringing out various welfare schemes of each Service for ESMs and Widows. The Secretary, RajyaSainik Board also made a presentation, wherein he informed the audience about various welfare schemes of RajyaSainik Board and KendriyaSainik Board towards welfare of ESMs and Widows.During the ESM Mela, facility for checking of life style diseases like diabetes, hypertension and obesity was also available.
Maj Gen PS Sai, Chief of Staff HQ ANC assured in his closing address that all possible assistance would be provided to all the ESMs and Widows within the rules and regulations laid down by Government of India.
