Port Blair, Nov 21: The Port Blair Municipal Council while implementing “Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban)”, under the mandate of the mission is targeting to achieve the open defecation status by 31st March 2017.
In this line and on the occasion of “World Toilet Day” on 19th November 2016, Port Blair Municipal Council organized a Skit at Shiv Nagar, Ward No. 18, Garacharma in order to educate the people of the area about the ill effects of the open defecation. The Skit, PBMC was intended to mobilize the open defecators of the area to construct their own toilet. The skit was attended by a gathering of around 80 people. PBMC tried to mobilize the open defecation population to construct and use toilets at their home.
Port Blair Municipal Council has appealed to the residents of Port Blair Municipal area to stop open defecation and construct toilet at their home.
