Port Blair, Nov 11: The ten days Annual Training Camp- 2016 for the Naval NCC Cadets of A& N Islands organised by 1 (AN) Naval Unit NCC concluded on 11 Nov 2016 at Govt. Middle School, Telugu Medium, Haddo, Port Blair. A traditional ‘Camp Fire’ was held on 10th Nov at the camp site.
About 252 Naval NCC Cadets from Schools and Colleges of A&N Islands participated in the camp. The camp was structured to give an all round exposure to the cadets. The camp activities included physical training and sports to make the cadets aware of the need and importance of physical activity to be healthy and self confident.
Regimental training included parade, drill, seamanship, small arms training and firing. As part of the professional training the cadets were taken on educational visits to the Naval Ship Repair Yard, Floating Dock Navy, INS Karmuk and INS Utkrosh. Cultural, Quiz and drawing activities followed by competitions were held among the troops in order to bring out the latent talent among the participants.
Guest lectures by resource persons from Social Welfare Dept, Dept of Forests and Environment and Directorate of Health Services were conducted to enhance the knowledge and awareness of the cadets.
Training demonstrations on Fire Fighting, Traffic Safety/management and Disaster Management were conducted for the benefit of the participants. A training session on first aid was conducted by the Station Health Organisation of HQ ANC.
Lectures on the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard was also conducted by officers deputed by the components of the ANC. An entertaining cultural program by the NCC cadets and the prize distribution were the highlights of the Camp Fire.”
