Port Blair, Nov 08: Finally in its third attempt the Port Blair Municipal Council today could evict a shop of fruit vendor which, according to PBMC, was illegally occupied by some fruit vendor.
The eviction drive took place at Fruit Market situated at Mohanpura near Gandhi Market.
As per the PBMC officials, the fruit vendor was allotted a shop at the back side of Gandhi Market but he had illegally captured a shop in the front side of the market.
The PBMC officials further said that they have earlier served a notice to the fruit vendor but instead of vacating the shop, the fruit vendor with the support of other fruit vendors of the area organized a protest because of which PBMC failed to remove him from the shop in first two attempts.
It is learnt that the actual owner of the shop filed contempt against the fruit vendor after which the executive magistrate along with a huge police force and PBMC officials reached the fruit market this afternoon and removed the fruit vendor.
