Port Blair, June 01: The Director General of Police, A & N Islands has been pleased to award a Commendation Certificate along with cash reward of Rs 1,000/- to Master Kumar Jubish, S/o Mr. Jappu John, R/o Garacharma, a student of Class X at St.Mary’s School.
On 23rd April, 2012, the Fire Fighters of Fire Station Garacharma accomplished an unusual feat of rescuing a cow that has got trapped inside a drain near Agency House, Garacharma. Thus, upon receipt of information about the incident at about 5.15 PM, the Fire Service officials rushed to the spot and mounted a rescue mission and after resolute efforts, succeeded in rescuing the trapped animal from the drain.
The unfortunate condition in which the cow had got itself trapped would have gone un-noticed but for the empathetic and sincere efforts made by Master Kumar Jubish, who not only called the Fire Control Room – 101 – from his mobile phone, but also made it a point to stay at the scene till the end and assist in the rescue efforts. This act of the young boy shows his enormous sense of social responsibility and makes him a role model for all the citizens of the Island.
”The general public is requested to pass information regarding such untoward incidents to the nearest Fire Station or dial 101,” a release issued by A & N Police department said here today.
