Port Blair, Oct 25: As decided by Govt. of India, the UT administration will observe Oct 28 ‘Dhanateras’ as ‘National Ayurveda Day’ on the theme ‘Ayurveda for Prevention and Control of Diabetes’. The weeklong celebrations will include awareness programmes, Health camps, Exhibition on Medicinal Plants and foods; and various competitions for School & College students across the Islands.
As part of the observance, an awareness rally was jointly organized on Tuesday by the Directorate of Health Services, A & N State AYUSH Society and Regional Research Centre of Ayurveda, CCRAS, Govt. of India on the theme “Walk away from Diabetes”. The rally was flagged off by the Medical Superintendent of, G.B Pant Hospital, Dr. S.P. Burma. Students from JNRM, ITI, cadets of NCC (Naval & Army), doctors & health staff participated with enthusiasm. The rally commenced from Gandhi Statue, Aberdeen Bazaar and culminated at AYUSH Hospital, Junglighat.
