Port Blair, Oct 24: As many as 23 students of Boys’ School have filed a complaint against a senior Hindi Teacher for using abusive words against them and behaving rudely with students.
According to reports the complaint letter signed by 23 students have been submitted in Union Territory Child Commission of Andaman & Nicobar Islands (UTCPCR) on Monday.

Following the letter, the member of UTCPCR, Mrs. Rubina Khatib Siddiqui along with another member Mrs.Geetha Raj visited the school and spoke to the principal, teachers and students.
“A fact finding enquiry was conducted today. I along with Mrs Geetha Raj another member of the commission, visited boys’ school and met students of all the classes, in which the concerned teacher taught. There was a unanimous voice of the children that unparliamentary language was used by the teacher. Verbal abuse also is a form of corporal punishment. Any corporal punishment, be it physical or mental is psychologically detrimental to the child and will not be acceptable under any circumstance. An advisory will be issued to all concerned officials to intimate the teachers to desist from such conduct and be sensitive towards the students,” Mrs. Rubina Khatib Siddiqui told Andaman Sheekha.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Principal, Boys Senior Secondary School, Mrs Malti Singh said that as soon as she received the complaint she immediately constituted a committee of five teachers and inquired into the matter. “After the inquiry the teacher accepted her mistake and it was also learnt that some students have also not co-operated with the teacher. However the teacher was then instructed not to use abusive languages against the students and the students were also directed to co-operate with teacher.
Talking to Andman Sheekha, the Discipline Committee member of the School, Mrs. Protima Banerjee said that there is no doubt the students of the school are very difficult to handle and thus teachers may also go under depression. “But in any case teacher must not use abusive language against students,” Mrs Protima Banerjee said.
