Port Blair, Oct 23: The scuffle between a Senior Army Officer of Andaman and Nicobar Command and a civilian family has now taken a serious turn in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
After allegation that the Lt. Col ranked officer of Indian Army of ANC has allegedly injured at 67 year old civilian and sent Armed Jawans to threaten his family members. Local media and various political parties are now demanding explanation from Indian Army.
There are allegations that the Army Officer misused his power and brought two truck-full of Armed Army Jawans to threaten the civilian family.
Following mounting pressure the Andaman and Nicobar Command, which was silent since last six days, have now confirmed that the Andaman and Nicobar Command has now convened a Court of Inquiry in this regard.
“Earlier we had said that we are ascertaining the facts, whatever we have found till now, based on that a decision has been taken and now ANC has convened a court of inquiry in this matter. Mr Shreedharan will be contacted soon being one of the witnesses,” Col. Yogesh Sharma, the Public Relations Officer of Andaman Nicobar Command told Andaman Sheekha today.
Meanwhile, the Victim family also called on the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, who has assured that family of all possible action from Administration’s end.
“Prof. Jagadish Mukhi, the Lt. Governor has informed us that strong action has already been taken in this regard as the matter has now reached to the concerned Ministry,” Protima Banerjee, the Councillor of Port Blair Municipal Council told media today, who accompanied the victim’s family.
