Port Blair, Oct 17: The Bhathubasthi area of Port Blair City will soon come under the watchful eyes of Police 24 X 7 as the Traffic Police Unit of Port Blair City is going to install five CCTV cameras at the Bhathubasthi area soon.
As per reports, the estimated cost of the project has been received by the Traffic Police and the setup work is expected to start very soon.
The Traffic Police Unit is slowly moving towards complete digitization so that Island roads become safer for public and remain accident free.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Umar said that for time being a team of Traffic Police Unit has already been deputed from morning 08:00am to evening 08:00pm to monitor the traffic at Bhatu Basti, which is the second busiest area of the city.
“Following the directions of the DGP and other higher authorities of the ANP we will soon be installing five CCTV Cameras at Bhathubasthi Junction, so that we can monitor all traffic movement, even during the night hours,” DySP Traffic, M. Umar said.
