Port Blair, October 15: The Lt Governor of A&N Islands, Prof Jagdish Mukhi has expressed his deep condolence over the unfortunate death of Smt. Gagan Prit Kaur, a resident of Garacharma, who died in a road accident at Garacharma on 14.10.2016. The 26 yrs woman was pillion riding a bike with her brother from Bathubasti to Garacharma at about 1.00 pm when a dog jumped in front of the bike. The biker hit the brake hard and lost balance. Both of them fell down on the road and a private bus coming from the opposite side ran over the woman resulting in her death on spot.
Meanwhile, the Lt. Governor has directed the Police Department to take rigorous action against the erring drivers and also to enforce traffic rules against high speed and dangerous driving. He has also directed PBMC to undertake drives to get rid of stray cattle and dogs roaming freely on roads.
