Port Blair, Oct 13: In line with the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) “Community managed sanitation systems focusing on scientific Solid & Liquid Waste Management systems for overall cleanliness in the rural areas” M/s Shree Ayyappa Traders has started on initiative to collect, segregate and dispose off waste generated & segregate it into Plastic Waste, Glass Waste and E-Waste in rural areas of South Andaman District. It has also been given permission/authorization by Andaman & Nicobar Pollution Control Committee.
Such collection of waste has started from existing Resorts, Hotels, Bars and public places/Beaches at Havelock & Neil Islands. The above waste will be dumped at space allotted by the Panchayats, where it will be segregated & categorized into Plastic, Glass & E-Waste, bailed & transported first to Port Blair & then to Mainland (Chennai) for recycling purposes.
