Port Blair, Oct 13: An unfortunate incident was reported on 28/08/2016 wherein two persons namely, K. Foziya (30 yrs.), W/o Shri. Mohd. Mustafa and her son, Mohd. Jishad (03 yrs.), R/o Bambooflat village died due to drowning at Andabeda, situated at Bambooflat village under Ferrargunj Tehsil.
Considering the incident to be an unfortunate one, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has sanctioned a total amount of Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs Only) towards immediate relief/financial assistance to the bereaved family of the victims, i.e. in the account of Mohd. Junaid, S/o Mohd. Mustafa.
The financial assistance has been sanctioned under “A&N Islands Scheme for Providing Financial Assistance to Victims of Accidents (who are not covered under the prevailing NDRF/SDRF norms approved by the GoI.
