Port Blair, Oct 12: Andaman & Nicobar Police is committed to eradicate the menace of bootlegging, illegal sale of alcohol and other social evil such as gambling from the society and taking another step to achieve this target, on 28-09-2016 at about 1950 hrs a team of PS Pahargaon while on excise raid at Bathu Basti apprehended one Abdul Rehman (46) yrs R/o Bathu Basti and seized 149 bottles of different brands of IMFL bottles from his possession. Since the accused could not produce any documents/licence for possessing the huge quantity of liquor, he was arrested.
Later, on 03.10.2016 another team of PS Pahargaon raided a gambling den at Jodakilan, Sippighat and arrested (1) Gopi (28) yrs R/o Prem Nagar (2) Mahesh (34) yrs (3) Rajesh (35) yrs R/o BathuBasti, (4) Mohan Lal (70) yrs R/o Nayagaon, (5) Prakash (40) yrs R/o Delanipur and (6) Mohd. Hussain (40) yrs R/o Garacharma and an amount of Rs. 3808/-were seized from their possession along with 02 decks of playing cards.
Both the above raids were conducted with the guidance of SI Sahil Shamsuddin, SHO PS Pahargaon under the overall supervision of Shri Ajay Kumar Rai, Dy.SP (SA).
