Port Blair, Sept 20: JNRM NSS unit No.1 organized a volunteer’s orientation programme in the seminar hall as a part of Volunteer development on Tuesday. The newly enrolled NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the Half Day programme. Speaking on the programme as a chief guest, Dr. R.P. Palani Swamy Associate Professor, Dept of Commerce congratulated the volunteers for being enrolled in the NSS and said that NSS provides ample opportunities for students to develop their personality, Shri Kundan Lal, District Youth Coordinator was the special guest. He spoke on the importance of community service by the students and youth. The chief guest and Special guest gave away the NSS batch to the newly enrolled volunteers. Dr. Santosh Kumar Jha, Assistant Professor in Plant Science, Dr. V.K. Sahu, Assistant Professor in Zoology and Shri. K. Venkatesan, Assistant Professor & Head in Home also spoke on the role and activities of NSS.
Dr. Kandimuthu, Programme officer NSS unit No.1 Coordinated the programme and spoke on the importance, role and functioning of NSS in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and JNRM in particular, He also spoke on the activities and achievements of NSS unit No.1 in last two years. NSS volunteer Arun Halder a RD camp 2016 participant shared his experience in NSS in last two years. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by K. Sibia B.A. Economics 3rd year student and a NSS volunteer.
