It inspires to create awareness amongst public and the coastal population, in order to protect the fragile environment along the coast and show community support for shared natural resources of coastal habitats and involve ordinary people to volunteer and give their time to make a difference to our environment.
The Indian Maritime Foundation (IMF) is the National Coordinator for India under the overall worldwide programme of the Ocean Conservancy.
The Indian Maritime foundation had officially allotted Block No 54 to Rotary Club of Port Blair.
Aim of keeping our Coastal Belt Clean and Preserve our Coastal Heritage is the main motto of Rotary club of Port Blair.
Rotary club had been doing this project since three years and was in constant touch with IMF Chennai.
Apart from showcasing a clean coast with social and economic benefits, the program aims at collecting valuable coastal trash data for better management purposes, creating awareness in the coastal population and the youth on imperative need to avoid coastal trash (including elimination of plastics to protect marine species).
The trash collected by the members was disposed off by the sanitary workers of municipal council at a designated safe place.
