Port Blair, Sept 16: The Directorate of RD/PRI had received enquiry report of AC unit over allegation against the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Dasrathpur, Shri. Rangalal Halder during his previous tenure and other Panchayat officials in respect of misappropriation and embezzlement of money in taking up a road work and purchase of same equipments for the Panchayat.
Complainant alleged that during the period 2005-2010, the work namely “Construction of rural road from existing rural road near Shri. Haridas Dhali’s house to Shri. P.Dhali’s house at Dasrathpur, ward no. II, Rangat(Length-480.0 mts.)” was splited with the intention to bring it within the limit of Pradhan with malafide intention. The Pradhan issued seven work orders for the work and out of which 05 work orders are issued for stacking of materials for constructing the road and payment for the same is released but not a single material handed over at site by the then Pradhan to succeeding Pradhan.
Also, the complainant alleged that during same period, the water cooler, the fire equipments, the fogging machine & fogging chemical and park items were purchased at much exorbitant rates.
Upon the receipt of complaint vide No. 83/15 dt. 08/10/2015, the Anti-Corruption Unit, Port Blair conducted an enquiry and found all the above said allegations substantiated.
The Directorate took a serious view on the issue and directed Anti-Corruption Unit to lodge an FIR against the then Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Dasrathpur Shri. Rangalal Halder, Shri. T. Harikrishna, the then Panchayat Secretary, Shri. Satyanarayan, Prop. M/s. Divya Jyothi Agencies, Middle Point, Port Blair, Shri. B.Vinod Kumar, the then Assistant Engineer and Shri. Kauser Hussain, the then Junior Engineer under the relevant section of POC act and proceed expeditiously to bring culprits to book.
