Port Blair, Sept 06: On Tuesday 6th September 2016, due to heavy showers, some areas in and around Port Blair were inundated by rain water causing problems such as water logging, to the residents as well as to the commuters. In some areas the water has entered into the households making it difficult to reside in. All revenue field functionaries including SDM(S/A), Tehsildar, Revenue Inspector, Patwari and Chowdheries were on field, monitor the situation and provide immediate relief such as shelter, food, blankets and coordinate with line departments.
In Brookshabad area 31 people whose houses were inundated by rain water were shifted to the nearby Govt Primary School.
In Telugu basti area and Dollygunj area many people were affected and arrangements have been made at DBRAIT, Dollygunj to accommodate them.
In old pahargaon area approximately 300 people were affected and all necessary assistance including food arrangements is being provided to them.
