Neil Island, May 27: The wonder natural bridge of Neil Island, situated at Laxman Pur village (No. 1) has become one of the most favourite destinations for visiting tourists. But old residents of Neil Island believe that the natural bridge now require immediate expert care or soon the bridge will collapse, which will surely be a big blow for Neil’s Tourism industry.
“The natural bridge is reducing in size with frightening speed. One of the main reasons behind this is that most of the visiting tourists climb on the natural projection for fun and there remain no one to stop them. One can imagine what would happen if someday the bridge collapses with all tourists above it. The bridge needs 24 X 7 protection,” said a prominent Islander of Neil Island.
Not only this Islanders allege that due to lack of supervision, considerable amount of corals near the natural bridge, have also died.
“Visiting tourists, mostly domestic tourists walk on coral bed near the Natural Bridge and often break corals into pieces and take those home. Two unique corals, which used to change colour on touch are now dead because of daily disturbance. Neither visiting tourists nor local cab drivers bother about our ecology. We need urgent intervention of Administration,” said another villager of Neil Island. Hope the Administration will respond to this before the lovely natural bridge of Neil Island collapses.
