Port Blair, Aug 18: As expected the authorities have now blocked the lone main road, which used to connect New Pahargaon area with Bhatu Basti.
The other road, was already closed long back because of land sliding inside Airport campus, following irresponsible earth extraction works.
Andaman Sheekha had already reported long back that the lone road which connected New Pahargaon with Bhatubasti has also developed cracked and to the utter dismay of public of the area the road has now been closed, leaving public in distress.
Now one has to drive through narrow roads of New Pahargaon Government quarter complex to reach to Pathergudda area. The narrow road was never designed to bear the burden of so much traffic and hence now the road is getting jammed every hour. The land sliding in New Pahargaon region, blocking of roads by APWD and slow repairing works are perfect example of APWD’s negligence.
