Port Blair, Aug 10: The State Level Science Drama Competition-2016, introduced for the first time in these islands, was organised in a befitting manner by the Science Wing of Directorate of Education in collaboration with Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), Kolkata in the Conference Hall of Shiksha Sadan on 10th August, 2016. The chief guest Dr. B.M. Bhatt, along with other dignitaries Shri Mammen Thomas, DDE (Sc.), Shri V.T. Reddy, DDE (Plg.) inaugurated the competition by lighting the ritual oil lamp. The Theme for this year’s Science Drama Competition is “Science & Society” with the Sub-Themes-Clean India-Healthy India, Food Security & Nutrition, Digital India- Power to Empower, Make in India, Green Energy, Life and works of a Scientist.
Addressing the gathering the chief guest Dr. B.M. Bhatt applauded the students for their excellent performance and reminded them to follow the same in the day to-day life. Earlier Shri V.T. Reddy reiterated for using the medium of drama as a potent tool for dealing with socio-scientific issues of current importance in our society.
The expert panel of judges drawn from All India Radio were Shri. Durgvijay Singh Deep, Divisional Director, NEWS, Port Blair, Miss Lalitha Tigga, Programme Coordinator, Port Blair and Shri Anadi Ranjan Bhattacharya, General Secretary, Aditya Natya Academy, Port Blair adjudged the competition.
The First Prize was bagged by Govt. Model SSS, Aberdeen from South Andaman Zone, Second Prize was clinched by GSSS, Sabari Jn. from Rangat Zone, Third Prize was won by GSSS, Wimberly Gunj from Wimberly Gunj. Apart from this the Best Director was awarded to Smt. Kamala Bairagi, GSSS, Sabari Jn. under Rangat Zone, Best Script Writer was taken by Smti. Geeta Navin Bhatt, Govt. Model SSS, Aberdeen, Best Child Artist-Male was bagged by Kumar Anisur of GSSS, Wimberly Gunj and the Best Child Artist-Female was Miss. Srishti from GSSS, Sabari Jn.
The Govt. Model SSS, Aberdeen from South Andaman Zone and GSSS, Sabari Jn. from Rangat Zone will be representing the Isles in the “Eastern India Science Drama Competition” to be held on 19th August, 2016 at Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, Kolkata.
The programme was coordinated by Smt. Mariam Joy, Science Consultant, and the votes of thanks were proposed by Shri. Raja Ram, Science Supervisor.
