Port Blair, Aug 10: To instil the spirit of patriotism, the A&N Police, Police Training School, Prothrapur has organized a debate competition on the topic “Freedom with Responsibility” at Tagore College here. Altogether, 35 students of various schools participated in the competition and debated over different aspects of freedom with responsibility and inflicting over the younger generation.
To assess the debating students, a jury consisting of Dr. N. Rajvel, HOD Commerce, JNRM, Dr. K. Venkatesan, HOD Home Science, JNRM, Dr. Shraboni Mallick, Lecturer, DBRAIT and Mr Denis Giles, Editor, Andaman Chronicle, after carefully analyzing the presentation and contents declared the winners. Maheika Sharma of Naval Public School (NPS) bagged the first prize (Cash award of Rs 3000/-), Meghna Suresh of VKV, Lamba Line secured the second (Cash award of Rs 2000/-) and Liza Ghosh of KV-II, Minnie Bay bagged the third prize (Cash award of Rs 1000/-). Jaanhvika Bisht of KV-II Minnie Bay and Asshna Midha of Naval Public School were awarded consolation prize of Rs 500/- each.
The chief guest of the occasion, Superintendent of Police (Security & Traffic), Mr Atmaram V. Deshpande, gave away the prizes and certificates to the winners. He appreciated the students for the overwhelming enthusiasm to the competition and emphasized that responsibility and freedom are inseparable and both are necessary for any individual and sensitized the duties and responsibility of the today’s generation to espouse by every citizen. Dr. N. Rajvel, Assistance Professor, HOD Commerce, JNRM appreciated the efforts of Police Training School to organize this debate which is very relevant and also appreciated the high level and quality presentation of all students.,
Smt. Geeta Rani Verma, Principal, Police Training School said that students are the future builder of nation so they have to shoulder the responsibility while enjoying the freedom.
