Port Blair, Aug 3: The Secretary, (Agri/AH & VS/Fisheries), Smt R. Menaka laid the foundation stone for construction work of Fish Market-cum-Net Repairing Shed at Wright Myo – 1 under jurisdiction of Gram Panchayat Mannarghat in the presence of Mr J. Chandrasekhar, Director of Fisheries, A & N Admin and Mr O Bashir, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Mannarghat and local PRI members, fishermen and villagers.
In her address, Smt Maneka highlighted the benefit of a numbers of subsidy schemes such as procurement of fishing boat, up-gradation of fishing boat, GPS safety equipment’s etc for fishers. The genuine problems of the fishermen community will be taken care of such as issuing of fishing license to fisher, provision of ice plant and deep freezer for gram panchayat, she assured.
The Pradhan, Mr O. Bashir presented a memento on the behalf of Fishermen community, Gram Panchayat Mannarghat to Smt R. Menaka and expressed deep gratitude to her for sparing valuable time from busy office schedule to visit Gram Panchayat Mannarghat. Mr J. Chandrasekhar, Director of Fisheries, A & N Admin informed about the fund granted to the Gram Panchayat by fisheries department for the project.
