Port Blair, Aug 1: The INCOIS Observatory, Hyderabad has forecast high waves in the range of 3.0 – 4.2 meters between 17:30 hours on 01-08-2016 to 23:30 hours of 03-08-2016 along the west coast of Andaman Islands between Ten Degree to Coco Channel. Current speeds may vary between 68 – 97 cm/sec. There is a possibility of wave surge along the coast because of high period swell waves and high onshore winds. In Nicobar, high waves in the range of 3.0 – 4.1 meters are expected between 17:30 hours on 01-08-2016 to 23:30 hours of 03-08-2016 along the west coast of Nicobar Islands between Ten Degree Channel to Great Channel. Current speeds may vary between 117 – 143 cm/sec. There is a possibility of wave surge along the coast because of high period swell waves and high onshore winds. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea. The general public have been advised to take precautionary measures and contact the State Control Room, District Control Room and Emergency Operation Centres in case of any emergency.
