Port Blair, July 29: On July 27, the South Andaman Police with the assistance of Police Marine Force, Fire, Police Communication & the Health & Tourism departments conducted a mock drill on terror attack and of a hostage situation in the Dolphin Resort at Havelock. The exercise was conducted on the basis that information has been received regarding intrusion of two terrorists with weapons in the resort and accordingly quick action was taken by the police teams by cordoning off the area. Terrorists were neutralised and the injured civilians were rescued.
In view of the prevailing threat and terror activities, similar mock drill/exercise will be conducted by South Andaman Police at various places viz, hotels, beaches, cinema halls, shopping complex and other public places. In such exercises, assistance of other forces, departments, agencies, organisations would also be taken. People are requested, not to panic in such mock exercises and advance information is also issued by the police department. Public are also requested to be alert and pass information to Police regarding any illegal/ suspicious activity.
