Port Blair, Jan 11: The Bharatiya Janta Party today demanded some privileges and facilities for local media persons who have been working as eyes and ears for Administration and General Public.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Mohan today demanded proper training to the journalists to Mainland; issue immediate orders to the Andaman Guest houses to release rooms to our journalists on priority basis with reduction in room rentals; free passes of STS buses to the journalists; Subsidized railway and Air tickets; financial help to procure machineries with minimum interest; a good , specious and well furnished room at the heart of the city where these journalists can meet together and Police protection to all the journalists and their place of working.
In his letter Mr. Mohan added that “the Media Personns are the back bone of a society. Through their reporting, they reflect the real picture of the society before the public and draw attention of the pillars of the society to get remedial solutions for the people of the society. Some times for their excellent jobs in revealing many surprising events, they get legal notices from the affected person to divert their mind and to give them un-wanted mental stress.”
